Did I ever tell you about how much I love space?

Anyways.

You’re (Y/N) (Y/L/N). Right now, you’re sipping on hot chocolate in a thermos, standing in the frigid cold of Iceland, and gazing at the tiny specks of multicolored stars scattered amongst the pitch, black night sky. The tent was pitched up, nearby, the electric lantern in it emitting a dim glow, just so that you could see the bold blue hues of the tent, glimpse at the shadow of your backpack and your boyfriend, who accompanied you. There’s a telescope nearby, which, obviously, is used to gaze at the many stars, comets, nebulas and various objects that line the elliptical, Milky Way Galaxy that you’re stuck within.

Then again, we’re all stuck within this galaxy.

Taking a sip of the sweet, luscious hot chocolate from the thermos, you sighed, with your gloved hands freezing from the chilly air. You could even see the wisps of your breath, which quickly fled, the molecules congregating with the countless others that made up the atmosphere. The blanket draped over your (Broad/narrow/etc.) shoulders was a weak form of insulation, and you longed for more heat to embrace you.

What a coincidence, then, when your boyfriend snuck up behind you and hugged you, his heated breath grazing your ear. His arms slunk around your waist, as he pulled you close, bare hands warm as he laced one of his hands with your gloved ones. “Take off the gloves.” He murmured in a dulcet voice, his accent coming through, resulting in you smirking, replying in a sassy tone.

“Make me.” He sighed, pulling one of the gloves off with little resistance from you, both of your bare fingers slipping amongst one another, hands clutching onto one another tightly. His chin sat on your wooly, fleece sweater-covered shoulder, as he looked up at the sky with you, so his hot breath always grazed your ear. “Do you wanna sit down? I’ve been standing here for ages, waiting for you.”

“Sure.” He sat down, bringing you down with him as you both sat on the frigid ground, as you pulled the blanket off your shoulders and passed it to him. He took it, draping it over his shoulders and you, as you snuggled your head on his chest, being able to feel the palpitations of his heart, as he nuzzled your hair. “Find any constellations yet, astronomer?” He asked, the corners of his lips slightly tugging upwards, forming a tiny smile.

“Just because I’m studying astronomy in university doesn’t mean I can just immediately identify constellations, idiot. I can identify a few stars and planets, but not constellations.” You said, as you continued gazing at the stars. “Besides... I still have a long way to go till graduation, so there’s plenty of time to learn.” You said, as Emil inhaled the scent of your hair, holding you close as his fingers toyed with yours, fumbling and frolicking together, like dolphins swimming about. “... Remember when we met?” You asked, voice soft, like the tail of a comet.

There was only a curt nod, before you felt a little nip on your ear. “Yeah.”

~.~.~.~.~.~.~

You met Emil when you first arrived at University. One night, when you were on the observatory deck of the university, attempting to identify different planets and stars, along with reviewing the material you were studying, you saw him, capturing images with his camera, arms perched partially over the fence as he snapped photos of the breathtaking scenery that laid in front of him. He spent a few minutes there before he noticed your curious gaze on you, just as he was putting away his equipment. Among the dingy deck, you saw his silver hair and violet eyes, with a white t-shirt and brown pants. You both stood in silence, until a small smile made its way onto your face, walking over to him and introducing yourself.

From then on, you and him would meet at the rooftop once a week, often on Friday nights, bringing beverages and food with you. You both would talk about your classes, about each other, your home lives, your cultures and even delve into philosophical topics. Of course, you both bumped into each other occasionally, but would only exchange small talk due to your tightly packed schedules, until the end of the semester arrived, with him charmingly asked you out (No, he was a total cute biscuit when he asked you out, with that flushed face and averted eyes).

You recalled the first time he kissed you, when he held you close, sleeping bags next to each other, as you both were sitting upon the plush bags, which was underneath a shelter atop the rooftop, shielding you both from possible rainfall. The chilly breeze grazed your skin, and in response to your increase in shivering, Emil hugged you close from behind, head resting on your shoulder as his warm exhales swept against your ear. Both of you sat in silence, before you turned your head to look at him.

Both of you then continued staring at each other, before Emil quickly smashed his lips against yours, desperate to kiss you. In a passionate frenzy, you shifted so that you were facing him, arms pulling each other close as your hands got tangled in his locks, while the grip on your shirt became stronger, pulling you closer until you swore he could rip the fabric of your shirt.

And man, it was worth the holes in your shirt.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~

“Yeah... But seriously, that was my favorite shirt.”

“I got you a new one.”

You simply rolled your eyes at the fact he stated. “Yeah, at least you got me a new shirt.” You said, turning around and grabbing the hood of his hoodie, pulling it over his eyes so that he couldn’t see you. You giggled as he flicked the hood off, before murmuring something. “Pardon me?” You asked, grabbing the hood again, tugging it over his face once again, a wry smirk on your face.

“... You’re lucky I love you.” Emil replied, flustered.

Cue him turning bright red at what he said, fingers retracting from yours as he crossed his arms, lilac purple eyes slipping their focus from you onto his jittering fingers. You, taken aback, stared at him with enlarged eyes, hands helping you maintain your balance, even though you were firmly seated on the ground, your hands greeting the strands of lush, green grass and uneven soil. You felt as though your heart was levitating, but you quickly collected yourself, smirked, and quickly captured his heated hands in yours, before saying the cheesiest thing that came to your mind.

“My love for you is a diffuse nebulae: There aren’t any notable boundaries. Although it may not be visible, I will always find a way to show you my love, because you are one of the stars I reflect. I’ll reflect the best and worst of you, yet support you all the way, and you’ll do the same for me... Right?” You asked, before Emil looked at your face, mind sipping your expression before he said.

“... That was a pretty terrible attempt at flirting.”

“... Shut up. At least I tried.” You said, sticking your tongue out. You then felt arms snaking around your waist, a spontaneous tug causing you to collide with his chest, with a surprisingly soft impact.

It was probably the blanket.

“Anyways... Yeah.” Emil said, smiling once again. “However, your flirting shouldn’t be just based off your knowledge of astronomy.”

“Oh, c’mon Emil.”

“Besides, the worst pick up line you used on me was something related to colliding galaxies. All of them are based off astronomy.”

“Shut up!” You said, becoming flustered yourself, recalling the one time you had to use a pick up line on him during one of your dates, concerning colliding galaxies.

“Fate really must’ve wanted us together, so we must be colliding galaxies. I mean, we’re colliding and fusing together.” He said, then chuckling as his eyes, brimming with mirth and coyness came in contact with yours. “That sounded like a dirty joke, you know?”

“Sh-shut up!” You said, hitting his chest as he simply pulled you closer, heart thumping against your sternum as you became flustered, blushing profusely and hoping that he wouldn’t mention a few other mortifying pick up lines you used on him. The tables turned, and now you were on the receiving end of embarrassment 101. His chest vibrated with his chuckling, as he allowed you to listen to his heartbeat.

“You’re cute when you get flustered.”

“.. Ditto.” You replied, with a smile slipping across your face, as his arms enveloped your waist, with you clutching onto his hands.

And few seconds of profound silence surrounded the both of you, the only sounds being your beating hearts, which were perfectly synchronized with one another, and the wind gushing past your ears and the sound of leaves rustling about.

“... I love you.”

Wow, that definitely broke the silence. And shocked you. You looked at him, grip on his hands becoming firm as you buried your face in his chest.

“... I love you too.” You mumbled, as the both of you gazed into each others eyes and proceeded to share a brief, passionate kiss, as adoration for one another engulfed the both of you and brought you closer.
